Hey, I missed RK this morning. If someone speaks to her before I do, please relay happy birthday wishes on my behalf.

In other news, the IV thing is worse than I thought. We have to be able to place lines in any of the usual peripheral sites, which means that someone is going to be poking me in the neck with sharp objects. Yikes.

The thought of a person 'practicing' putting an IV needle in to my neck makes me feel like, well, passing out. Better you than me Bro... hope all goes well (nervous laughter is heard.)

It was interesting looking around the room during the IV lecture today; every student had closed body language. Then the instructor (a paramedic since the '70s) attempted to start an IV on a student; two attempts, no luck. Then another paramedic tried on a second student; first attempt failed. Gulp. Must be harder than it looks. It would be funny if I were not a participant. Afternoon lab found us starting IVs on rubber arms; my first one went in correctly (the arms have veins and bleed appropriately).
