Okay, show of hands.

Who *actually* watched the VP debate the other evening? Carefully chosen and predigested snippets on the news don't count.

Second question... Who *actually* watched the Presidential debate?

Thinking about the last part... I guess he probably realized that only stodgy old conservatives would actually watch the VP debate, so that decided the plank-du-jour. Plus, that explains the remark about, "Well, Dick, your daughter's gay. What about that." I thought it was odd for Edwards to lob that easy pitch to Cheney; maybe he thought it would somehow reflect poorly oin the viewing demographic and no fear of his clear equal-but-separate posturing appearing in a sympathetic, adoring press.

I felt that Cheney pounded that pitch out of the park, FWIW. He handled the subject very tactfully, I thought, in a way I (socially liberal) could deal with that was still observant of the administration's policies.
