Listening to the state police scanner; they reported a 911 hangup in one of my towns. The dispatcher called back and got voice mail.

That's often a bad sign.

The police dispatched a trooper to go up there. The trooper was pretty far away; it took him about a half hour to get there.

I anxiously waited for him to get there; if it was a bad scene, I'd have to go.

Finally the trooper got on scene. A young girl, the daughter of the homeowner had called 911.

Her fish had died.
